Job title: Editorial assistant/编辑助理

Location: Shanghai        

Purpose of the role: Managing the processing of manuscripts from submission to acceptance for Nature Research Journals and supporting the standardisation of workflows, improved efficiencies, data collection and to support authors, editors and reviewers, assisting with office administration and providing cover where needed.

Key tasks:
1. Managing the flow of manuscripts through the editorial office
1) Checking EJP for revisions, pre-submission enquiries and new submissions.
2) Perform quality checks on submissions for adherence to submission requirements and compliance with publication policies – communicating with authors where necessary.
3) Ensuring accepted manuscript files comply with Production requirements and chasing authors for any missing material where necessary
4) Checking NPG legal forms are included and stored correctly
5) Generating and sending out standard and non-standard emails for status enquiries, decisions and chases.
2. Database maintenance
1) Updating person records on EJP and ensuring that all person data is accurate and that duplicate records are merged.
2) Ensuring that manuscript submissions are uploaded correctly and that all files have converted properly
3) Suggest and implement improvements with regards to customer services to all our customers (Authors, Reviewers, Editors and Colleagues) specifically concerning systems workflows and best practice.
3. Correspondence
1) Dealing with incoming post, emails and general enquiries, attaching it to files if necessary, and passing to the appropriate editor
2) Uploading correspondence and hard copy manuscripts into EJP
3) Generating and sending out standard and non-standard emails for status enquiries, decisions and chases
4. Chasing authors and reviewers
1) Sending standard and non-standard emails to chase reviewers and authors for reports and revisions and revising standard letters as and when the journal’s procedures change
2) Monitoring and updating chase progress for editors
3) Chasing authors and reviewers by telephone when reports and revisions are required urgently
5. EJP support for authors, reviewers and editors
1) In liaison with the Editorial Administration Manager ensure that pertinent system issues are raised with clarity to promote the understanding of the MTS team so that they can effectively troubleshoot.
2) Troubleshoot where needed on a daily basis – handling basic queries and report issues on behalf of your journal.
6. Responding to enquiries
1) Dealing with telephone and email queries from authors, editors and reviewers
2) Taking calls for the editors and department as a whole with tact and patience
3) Dealing with general enquiries from colleagues in other departments
7. Cover and training
1) Covering for other administrative colleagues when required
2) Maintain Journal Instructions which allow effective and complete coverage in times of absence.
3) Training new team members and or editors for your journals on a variety of tasks, as required by your Manager or on your journals.
8. General administrative support
1) Running off weekly and monthly activity reports for journals  

Qualifications:
Education to degree level/good A levels or equivalent

Skills/Knowledge:
1. Ability to work to a specified list of priorities with speed and accuracy
2. Flexibility and ability to work as a team member
3. Strong written communication skills, including accurate spelling and grammar
4. Professional and courteous telephone manner
5. Attention to detail
6. Ability to follow instructions and adhere carefully to established procedures
7. Ability to organise and juggle a varied workload under pressure and to work quickly and efficiently without constant supervision
8. Capacity to make thoughtful decisions and use initiative
9. Punctuality and reliability
10. A positive attitude in the workplace and a willingness to co-operate with colleagues

Experience:
1. Basic experience in an office environment using office equipment
2. Database, Microsoft office, internet and email experience desirable

Job title: Institutional Marketing Executive/市场专员

Location: Beijing


Purpose of the role: To develop and execute marketing strategies and sales tools to drive Springer Nature sales with a special focus on marketing Nature Research Group and Springer Research Group business throughout the Greater China region.

Key tasks:
1.Responsible for designing, creating and delivering marketing programs to support library marketing/sales efforts.
1) Marketing programs include exhibits, customer engagement events, branding awareness, social media, multimedia, internal/external collateral and website management.
2) Understand the needs of the market and develop and execute a marketing plan to maximize sales of Springer Nature content, including journals, books and other products from NRG and SRG throughout the Greater China region, including mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao.
3) Develop and implement quarterly marketing strategies, campaigns and tools to be used to maximize sales within the Greater China sales team.
4) Work in unison with Springer Nature colleagues regarding said various marketing programs that are shared by the Greater China Institutional Marketing team. This includes:
5) Maintain and manage regional exhibits, sponsorship schedule, branding, design, logistics, vendors, sales/marketing interaction accordingly.
6) Coordinate all regional customer engagement programs: Library Advisory Board, summits, exhibit events, roadshows including logistics, onboarding, agenda creation with sales, internal/external communication, moderating and post event activities.
7) Determine and analyse specialized needs of strategic customers; partner internally and externally to deploy marketing actions to meet these needs.
8) Reports monthly on marketing program activities and budget spending status which is shared with amongst the Greater China Institutional Marketing team.
9) Work closely with Institutional Sales team in the Greater China region to determine their needs, and then prioritize and manage the use of the institutional marketing budget.
10) Team liaison with Sales Analysis & Intelligence executive for China, identify marketing areas that a strategic marketing activity is required to maximize the sales, make a plan for the activity and carry it out in cooperation with Sales Vice President in the Greater China region.

2. Work with staff in other departments to maximise sales in the region.
1) Work closely with Nature Research Group and Springer Research Group editorial units to ensure that institutional marketing and sales are aware and act upon highlights, upcoming changes and hot topics within the industry.
2) Work closely with Greater China Sales Support team, to ensure high level customer service.
3) Work closely with Sales Analysis & Intelligence Executive to ensure that sufficient market research is carried out to locate potential customers in the region for Springer Nature collections/titles.

3. Contribute to the management team of the NPG SLBU/Palgrave, Greater China
1) Participate in local and global institutional marketing and sales team meetings.
2) In unison with local marketing team, participate and contribute to the Springer Nature Greater China Marketing Council, and collaborating with marketing colleagues from NRG, SRG and ORG where appropriate.


Qualifications:
College education required

Skills/knowledge:
1.Strong communication skills both in Chinese and English
2.Good oral and written presentation skills
3.Customer focused
4.Work effectively to meet deadlines
5.Ability to work as part of a team
6.Enthusiastic and committed
7.Basic computer skills required
8.Skills and knowledge on graphic tools for both print and web publications are preferable

Experience:
At Least 3 years’ sales/marketing experience within the STM industry in Greater China
